The first step to having a homestead is getting to level 10. At level 10, you will get a quest and a ticket to create your homestead. Once you're level 10, you can click the homestead Information button at the bottom of the screen (hotkey: U) and create your homestead.
*WARNING*
When you pick the location for your homestead, it will ALWAYS be that location. Items on the homestead can be location-specific, so think long and hard about where you want your homestead.
*Example: In the Ruairi Server, the most common homestead location is Uladh.
Directly under your skill hotkeys, there is a button with a house and button with a hammer.
This is also called the edit button. It allows you to move things around on your homestead, delete items, turn an item, and grant access to other players for tools, herbs, and other usable items. It opens a grid-like pattern so you can see how much space an item takes up and how much space you have left. Click the edit button to enter or leave edit mode.
This is also called the build button. It opens up a menu with tabs and all the items you can build.
To the right of the bottom main menu bar is the exit button. This button allows you to leave your homestead.
The name of your homestead is displayed at the top. Mine is called "The Rabbit Den." It makes sense if you think about it because my name is Dabunny! Below the name is your homestead level. To the right of the level is your total Kon. Below this is a bar much like the player experience bar, except it shows your current homestead level instead of your character's level. Fill it up and your homestead will level! Down a tiny bit and to the right is the current experience of your homestead and the total experience needed to reach the next level. Below the words "Homestead Stone" is a number. This number is how many homestead stones you have. As you can see, I have 171 stones left in this picture. Below the words "Total Maintenance Costs" is what the cost of maintenance for your homestead is. My cost is only 1 at this time.
The build menu has multiple tabs to click and scroll through. Below the tabs are items you can build based on your homestead level. The higher your homestead level, the more you can build! On the top right side of the menu is an explanation of the item and any bonuses it gives in blue. Below the explanation is "Time Spent," which tells you how long it takes to build the item. Some build times can be shortened if you have other items on your homestead with bonus effects. Then there is the "Required Material" box. This shows what materials you need to make the item. If it is empty, you need Pon Coin(s) which can be purchased in the Cash Shop. All items can be made with Pon Coins or the required materials, except the house. Below this is the Maintenance Fee, which tells you what it will cost to keep the items on your homestead. The bottom three buttons allow you to use Pon to create the item, use materials to create the item, or close the menu.
First, click the edit button and then click the item you wish to change. Click the "Move" button from the window that pops up. Click a new location to move the item. You can rotate an item by clicking "Move" and then the "Page Up" key on the keyboard to rotate 90 degrees clockwise or the "Page Down" key on the keyboard to rotate it 90 degrees counter-clockwise. Luckily, there is a mini popup each time as a reminder.
The first thing you should do on your homestead is mine the homestead stone with a pickaxe to gather resources.
You can mine the homestead stone 10 times successfully. You can get a lucky finish and get 1 bonus stone each lucky finish (2 total). Or you could get a huge lucky finish and get 19 bonus stones each huge lucky finish (20 total).

The homestead stone replenishes at 12:00 a.m. PST (7:00 a.m. GMT).
If you have a partner pet of 80 or higher disposition with a pickaxe equipped, your pet can mine homestead stones with you and you can get a base of 20 stones without any lucky finishes. The next step is to build your house! It will only be a tent/igloo at this point, but it will get much bigger later on. Find it under the Build Menu under the "Buildings" tab. The design of your home will change depending on the region you chose. Tents are the starting point for Connous and Uladh homesteads, while igloos are built in Physis homesteads.

You can only have 1 home on the homestead. The tab will be blank after you make the tent unless you delete your home. If you delete your home after you upgrade it, it will start as a tent again.
You can paint your home, fences, and several other objects on your homestead. Mixing a can of paint requires the Handicraft skill and several ingredients: 1 fish of any type, 1 bottle of water, 10 herbs of the same type, and the use of 5 mana points. The color of the herbs selected will determine color of the paint can. There are eight basic paints made with the eight herbs, including garbage herbs (black paint). It should be noted that Antidote herbs are not useful as paint ingredients.
Once you place your home, your homestead should level up!
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE HOMESTEAD LEVEL TWO!! Wasn't that easy? Your homestead will now grow larger and you can build more stuff!

You can have 5 of each type of animal, and each animal will produce ten production items. The animals reset at 12:00 a.m. PST (7:00 a.m. GMT).
The easiest (and cheapest) way to level your homestead at this point is to purchase a field and plant some crops! The field is found under the build menu's "Farmland" tab.
*Bunny's Tip For Level Two*
This is where one of your daily chores comes in! In Cobh, there is a man in blue between the fish seller and weapon shop. You should see a red female giant by him. This NPC is named Madoc. Every day, he has a request for you. If you complete it, you get two homestead stones as a reward! The quest is always to find 5 large nails. If you hit the sign in Cobh that is next to the personal shop area that tells you that you can earn 10,000,000 gold in this shop area, it sometimes drops two items at once. It also seems to have a higher drop rate than signs in other towns. Talk to Madoc again with the nails in your inventory, and complete the quest. He will take the nails and you get your homestead stones! They automatically move to your homestead, so you don't have to do anything messy to add them. Hey would you look at that? The field costs two homestead stones! So for just a tiny bit of running to Cobh, some stamina to hit the sign, and a few button pushes, you get a free field pretty much. Pretty nifty if you ask me!
At level two, you can only plant strawberry seeds. You can get them from the goblins in Ciar Dungeon in Tir Chornaill or Barri Dungeon in Bangor on normal difficulty. Goblins also drop tomato seeds for level three, so save those. If you don't want to go fight for your seeds, you can also take a part-time job from the grocery store! Caitlin in Tir Chornaill, Glenis in Dunbarton, and Fraser in Emain Macha can all give you the grocery store part-time job. The seeds are a reward for finishing the job successfully, but the seeds you get are random and there are 5 types. It may take some time to get a specific type of seed you're looking for, and this is why I recommend doing the dungeons for strawberry and tomato seeds. If you find yourself struggling to finish the dungeon alone, don't be afraid to ask your friends for help.
There is a lot to explain about crops! I'll try to make this painless.
Crops are worth a base amount of Kon, or homestead experience points. At level 2 homestead, your only worry is strawberry seeds and their Kon. Strawberries yield 200 Kon per harvest and take 60 minutes to grow.

You can earn more Kon for things such as the wheelbarrows and the scarecrow per harvest regardless of seed type.
Well, 60 minutes is a long time it seems. Don't worry! You can make your crops grow faster by equipping an instrument and using the "Playing Instrument" skill. The crops will dance and grow faster if you play the song correctly. If a song is too easy or you play the song wrong, the crops won't grow even though they dance. This gives you Playing Instrument experience as well -- a nice bonus, right? The higher your playing rank, the faster the crops grow.
Next up is the Crop Menu. When you click on your field, a menu pops up. Like the Build Menu, a lot is going on, so I'll explain.
All the crops are visible on this menu, but not all will be available to plant when starting off. There are six levels of crops you can unlock. These are unlocked by leveling your homestead. Each time your homestead levels up another crop will unlock, until the homestead reaches level 6. The pumpkin is the last and most valuable crop on the list.
To the right from the top down, you can see: the crop’s name, and description of the crop, the time required to grow the crop (without a bonus from Playing Instrument), and the materials required to plant the crop without Pons and the alternative cost in Pons, and the tax (similar to maintenance costs). As with the build menu, there is both a Use Pon and Create button available for planting the crops.
To harvest the crops (only after they finish growing), click the field again and this menu will pop up:

You also unlock the tomato crop at level three! They're the same as strawberries, only they take 1 hour and 30 minutes to grow and you get 220 Kon. Tomatoes cost 14 Pon Coins.
*Bunny's Tip*
Your homestead is still really small at this point? You can get decorations for your homestead, but I really don't recommend it at this point, since at level four your homestead will get bigger. If you DO want to get some bonuses or Kon for building these items, I would suggest an item that gives extra Kon daily such as the flowers. The well doesn't do much to reduce the time spent for the crops to grow, but it looks nice.
While I don't recommend the well at this level (the next level when you have a little more room is when I recommend it), I thought I better explain a bit about setting it up in case you do decide to get it. You can always come back and re-read if/when you decide to make one. This is one of those items that, as a nice person, you want to set up for everyone to use. You don't run out of water, so what is the harm in doing it? It takes a few seconds and it makes people happy!
Click the edit button and click on your well. Now click "View Information" and this should show up:
The checked box is the one that is selected. Simply click the "Anyone" box and your well is ready to go! Then hit the "Close" button and re-click the edit button.
*Decorating Tips from Bunny*
For extra Kon and a nice touch, you can make a shrub "fence" to hide unsightly things on your homestead. I did this for my stones. It takes three shrubs (3 Homestead Stones) to hide one stone or 2x2 item, but only 4 shrubs to hide two 2x2 items. Here are a few pictures of how I did it:
Kobolds in Math Dungeon drop common leather pretty often. Sadly, it is a lot harder to make the strap than to get the leather. To make the strap, equip a gathering knife and use a spinning wheel. If this proves too hard, most players are friendly enough to help, especially those who have the tailoring talent active! You can ask friends for help, but you will likely have to get the leather and gathering knife for them.
Building Stones are a reward for every dungeon with a golem boss, but it isn't so easy to run Ciar Dungeon half a dozen times or more. Frankly, it gets really boring. An easier way is to do "The Other Alchemist" shadow mission on Beginner in Tara. The alchemists summon golems that have a high drop rate for building stones, and you can pick up half a dozen in a fraction of the time.
While the trees for production success or more base herbs SEEM like a good idea, they aren't just yet. Really soon they will be, but you can't build a furnace/anvil or base herbs at level three homestead. Don't worry, you can soon! Spend your Homestead Stones wisely since you may only get ten (twelve with Madoc's quest) a day.
Continue doing part time jobs for seeds and planting crops until your homestead levels up.
Moving on up and getting bigger! Your homestead increases in size at level four and you unlock new things! Here is your handy-dandy unlock list:

You unlock the eggplant crop at this level. Eggplants yield 240 Kon and take 2 hours to grow. You can buy them for 16 Pon Coins.
Click the edit button and then click an item and a menu will pop up. Now click "View Information" and you can choose who can gather items from your homestead! If you have the "Owner" box clicked, only you may gather from the item.
There are a bunch of pros and cons to having base herb patches. If you don't have the Herbalism skill, these patches are important to have, because they're your only way to gather base herbs. If you do have the skill, there are many base herb patches around that you can go pick from, but patches aren't everywhere, so if you are in Taillteann and you need herbs, what are you going to do?
I would recommend getting one or two patches. Base herbs can be found along the bottom edge of the Dunbarton map (I think these are the easiest to get to), closer to the brown and red grizzly bears (some WITH the grizzly bears!) than the dip in the map that is The Southern Path of Dunbarton to Gairech Hill. You can ONLY see them if you have Rank F Herbalism. Players with the Apothecary talent title should have Herbalism, and many will likely be willing to pick the herbs for free. Now you can put the tree with the base herb gathering bonus in your homestead.

You get snowballs by hitting the snowmen in Sidhe Sneachta. Just watch out for the coyotes!
Yes! Now you can finally upgrade your house! You can get out of the igloo/tent and get a real home! If you painted the tent, you don't get to keep the colors when moving to a house. You will need all new paint. Sorry, but you can't use Pon Coins to upgrade to a house.

While the home allows you to add more homestead friends, you can get to your friends' houses at any time as long as you have your friends registered on your friends list. The home is mostly for looks, and it does look very pretty! People look more fondly on your homestead if you have a house, so if you are entering any contests or want to be more pro, you might want to invest in a house.
Not many things that are easy to hunt at a low level drop fine leather. Some mobs include: brown and gray gremlins, kobolds, red grizzly bears, volcano wolves, and burgundy bears. Red grizzly bears drop the most fine leather, but they can be hard for young or new players to hunt in great numbers. I believe the easiest way to get fine leather is going to the Hot Springs and hunting volcano wolves. They act just like any other wolf, which should make them easier to fight since one of the first mobs to train on for new players is wolves. Even an experienced player may find it is easier to hunt the wolves quickly and successfully.
While you could grab a lumber axe and spend the day chopping wood with Tracy at the Logging Camp, it may be easier to have someone with the carpentry skill make the wood. It takes 3 regular firewood to make 1 average firewood. This means it would take 60 regular firewood to get what you need if you had a 100% success rate. While a lumber axe is expensive, chopping at the Logging Camp can sometimes produce average firewood, reducing the number or regular firewood you need.
Again, you can get the trees for the Bloody Herb Patch and Chopping Block, but they are mostly useless until the next level homestead. The apple tree does give apples which can be used in part-time jobs, eating, or feeding pets, so it does serve some use.
Continue planting crops as usual until your homestead reaches level five.

You unlock cabbage seeds at level five. They yield 260 Kon and take 2 and 30 minutes to grow. You can buy them for 18 Pon Coins.
Getting items to build the tools you unlock at this level can be very hard. The tough thread and tough string used for the Spinning Wheel and Loom require high ranks in weaving, and the Plates used for the furnace require high ranks in refining. Your best bet is to look for people with high blacksmith and tailor talents to create the items for you.
You may need to collect the raw materials, which takes a great deal of time. If you have a lot of extra Pon Coins, it may be easiest to just buy the loom, spinning wheel, furnace, and anvil. The chopping block, on the other hand, is a bit easier; it just takes a lot of wood and a lot of time. Similar to making average firewood, you need three average firewood to make 1 fine firewood. High ranks in the Carpentry skill help here.
Flint can be purchased at the Calida Exploration Camp in Zardine from Kelpie for 5,260 gold, or it can be mined with a pickaxe under the volcano when it is raining.
Running Ciar Normal Dungeon is fairly simple, and there is usually one herb room per floor. Picking herbs for your homestead now starts to become difficult without the herbalism skill. Herb pets can help you pick herbs somewhat easier, but they aren't specific and they require mana. To get 30 bloody herbs, it may take time to just run dungeons, but luckily they only take up two inventory blocks per stack and you only need three stacks.
Continue planting seeds until level 6.

You also unlock your last crop, pumpkins, at this level. Pumpkins take 3 hours, yield 280 Kon, and cost 20 Pon Coins.
I hinted earlier that you would be able to mix paints and get a new paint color, and here is how you do it!
Obtain or make three regular paints of your choice. Having a tiny background in art and the color wheel will help you produce the desired paint. Click on the paint kettle with the three paints cans already in your inventory. Place the paints into the boxes above the bottle-looking things and then a preview will appear of the paint in the kettle. Simply hit the "Mix Paint" button and you will obtain one new paint can with your mixed paint!
Again, the iron plates are the same as needed for the furnace in level 5. You need high-rank refine to make them, so looking for someone with a high-level blacksmith talent title would be the way to go (or you can always purchase the iron plates with Pon Coins).
Hopefully you realized that you would need sunlight herbs and have been collecting those too, otherwise it is back to Ciar Normal Dungeon on a hunt for sunlight herbs you go! Again, the herb pets are of great help and so is the herbalism skill.
Continue planting herbs till you reach level 7.
How high can you level? Nobody knows! But you just hit level 7, so watch out, there is a new great homestead in Mabinogi and it"s YOURS!

The first thing out of your mouth should be, "GIMME GIMME I NEED AND WANT THAT!" because you really really do! The homestead stones pay for themselves in the Kon you'll add per harvest with the wagon. The good news is, the wagon doesn't require any hard-to-find materials; just average firewood which can be found at the Logging Camp or made with the carpentry skill fairly simply. A wagon is a must have!
Hopefully you've been collecting mana herbs too, but if not, you know the drill! Back to Ciar!
Again with the iron plates... I'm sorry! Look for your favorite refiner and hopefully you can get your hands on some.
While you should be eating berries to keep your weight down, the hot springs monkeys HATE them! If you feed the monkeys berries, they will give you one wood board per monkey until you get two wood boards a day from them. Simple, cheap, easy wood boards! So if you don't want to go through the pain of making them through handicraft, go say hi to the monkeys!
Go plant those crops and head to level 8!
Oh gosh, you are catching up too fast! Where are my pumpkin seeds? I must plant quickly!

You can find little bees' nests on select trees in Corrib Valley. Look for these and hit the tree! Don't worry; nothing will chase you when you hit the tree. 5 should drop pretty quickly.
At this level, you also unlock the mansion! Huge house time? Again, your Pon Coins are no good here. Here is your list:

These stones, unlike the fine stones you will need to get soon, are easy to get! Bring a pickaxe to Sliab Cuilin, find the stone pit on the lower right side of the map, and mine away! It shouldn't take too long to get 5 low-grade stones.
Any type of bear, kobold, green or black snake, green gremlin, or basilisk will drop finest leather. Running Math Dungeon on Normal or hunting the bears outside Dunbarton is the easiest way to get the leather.

Yes, you want it! But maybe if your homestead is crowded at this point, waiting till the next homestead level would be best, since you'll get a lot more room. You may also want to wait to put in some ornaments. Although... the extra Kon you get from having the wagon could get you there faster. Tough choice right?
While you can fish the day away in Cobh or on the fishing boat, Cadoc in Cobh sells flying fish for only 2,819 gold. The size doesn't matter so this may be the fastest and easiest way to get them.
Equip an empty bottle sold by general shops and click on a well to fill it with water. It may take several tries to get water.
The only place to obtain these is on Reus River. You need the Snowfield L-Rod to make a hole in the ice, or a giant can use stomp to break it.
These are found all over Tir Chonaill, Emain Macha, Ceo Island, Dugald Residential Town, and Sen Mag Residential Town, but the fastest and easiest way to get them is through Cadoc in Cobh who sells them for 1,900 gold.
Purchase a metallurgy sleeve at the general shop and go to a beach in Iria to look for shining spots on the ground. Use the metallurgy skill and dig in the sand for the fragments. This may take a while based on your metallurgy skill rank.

You need a pickaxe to mine these, just like the common ones, but you can only find them in the shadow mission in Taillteann called "The Stones of Sliab Cuilin." You will need to take out the monsters on guard before you can mine the stones. Luckily, you can do this mission at any level and you can bring help.
It may seem like you just gained a nice amount of space, but if you want the highly-coveted Ladeca at the next level, don't take up too much of that room! You won't be getting more space for a few levels and it is going to take a lot of time to get though them. Save the space if you want the Ladeca!

You finally unlocked it! Now the hard part is getting Falias Fragments! You can buy them from other players or get them from the Tara bank part-time job. If you want to try your luck at the job, I recommend a time when everyone is on and not away from keyboard. This means sometime around 10:00 a.m. PST (6:00 p.m. GMT) until about 6:00 p.m. PST (1:00 a.m. GMT) on the weekdays and anytime after 7:00 a.m. PST (2:00 p.m. GMT) until 6:00 p.m. PST (1:00 a.m. GMT) on the weekends. You add people as friends so you can meet on their homestead. The player will be on whatever channel you accept the part-time job on. You can try to whisper them as well. This is the hardest part-time job, so be warned that this may take dozens of tries!

You know how to get fine leather and common leather straps, so just combine your knowledge of the two for fine leather straps! They are even harder to make than common leather straps, so finding someone with a high-rank weaving skill is a must!
